Description

This course guides higher ed faculty, staff, and administrators through the creation of their own learning analytics plan. The course discusses appropriate use of learning analytics and its limitations.

Objectives

Participants will create a feasible analytics project plan for their institution that applies knowledge of analytics terminology and methodology. The project plan should demonstrate an awareness of the limitations of analytics.

Seth Gurell has been with Utah Valley University (UVU) for more than five years and currently serves as Director of Instructional Design Services. He received his Ph.D. from Brigham Young University in Instructional Psychology and Technology. His research interests include Open Educational Resources (OER) and learning analytics.

Sam is an Instructional Designer at UVU for the Office of Teaching and Learning. He holds a Master of Educational Technology and a B.S. in Mathematics, Secondary Education from Boise State University. After teaching high school mathematics and computer classes for six years, he joined UVU in 2012 and enjoys finding ways to improve education with technology in hybrid and online learning environments.
