Description

This Massive Open Online Course introduces the concept of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) and the different approaches towards it. It will show inspiring RRI practices and activities and give participants the opportunity to investigate RRI in a role-play exercise. Participants will develop first ideas on how to implement RRI into practice and will be given the chance to exchange their views.

Objectives

On completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Describe the history and idea of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI).
  • Discuss and contrast the different approaches and concepts of RRI.
  • Adapt and translate their knowledge of RRI into their own work or studies

Target Audience: Open to everyone, but of special interest for those involved in Higher Education Institutions or research projects.


This course is offered by the European project HEIRRI (Higher Education Institutions & Responsible Research and Innovation).

HEIRRI Coordinator

Director of the Studies Center on Science, Communication and Society from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (SCS-UPF), associated professor of Science Communication and Director of the Masters' degree in Scientific, Medical and Environmental Communication at the same university. Nowadays, she is the HEIRRI project Coordinator, as well as a member of the “Expert Group on policy indicators for Responsible Research and Innovation” of the European Commission.

Núria has been working since 2013 as a research assistant with the FP7 European projects PLACES, KiiCS and NERRI at the Studies Center on Science, Communication and Society from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (SCS-UPF). She is nowadays the HEIRRI project Manager. Núria has a degree in journalism from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a master’s degree in Science Communication from Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
