Description

This five-week course provides an introduction to the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care. Through course materials, including suggested readings, online discussions and reflections, podcasts, videos, and self-assessment quizzes, participants will gain a better understanding of the AACN model, so they can apply it to various areas of practice. Although the course is somewhat self-paced, participants are encouraged to complete course modules and assignments in a timely manner according to the course calendar.

The course requires the purchase of the book: Hardin, S. R., & Kaplow, R. (2017). Synergy for clinical excellence: The AACN synergy model for patient care. Burlington, MA: Jones & Bartlett Learning.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

Instructor

Sonya R. Hardin, PhD, RN, CCRN, NP-C, has been a critical care nurse for 30 years. She received her PhD from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Now, as a Professor and Associate Dean of Graduate Programs in the College of Nursing at East Carolina University, she is known nationally for her work on the AACN Synergy Model and co-authored the first book on the subject, “Synergy for Clinical Excellence,” which received the AJN Book of the Year Award.
