The migration of print resources to electronic formats has changed the way instructional librarians teach students how to use the library effectively. The library itself has changed to include learning spaces and zones with less dedicated space for print resources. In this course, an experienced academic librarian will share his strategies for getting students engaged in the art of library research. He’ll provide a balanced approach to information literacy instruction, which will include games, active learning, and other ways to use media literacy to help students enjoy their time in the library.

Keith Rocci

Instructor

Keith Rocci is an instructional designer at Pima Community College. From 2008 to 2013, he was an academic librarian at Washburn University. During that time, he taught over 800 students in a credit course called library research strategies. He continues to teach graduate credit courses in the School of Library and Information Management (SLIM) at Emporia State University and has taught over 400 future librarians in the program. He has degrees from Arizona State University (B.S., Justice Studies), The University of Arizona (M.A., Information Resources and Library Science), and Northern Arizona University (M.Ed., Educational Leadership and Educational Technology). Last summer, he authored a workbook called “Library Research Strategies.”
