Welcome to the open world. As you probably know, there are millions of great teaching and learning resources, technologies, tools, and applications ready for us entirely for free available online. Yet, finding them can be challenging and time consuming. Implementing them can be even harder. This course will help you manage how, when, and where you use open resources in your teaching and learning.

Objectives

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Find valuable teaching and learning resources that can be utilized for free.
  • Understand how, when, and where open resources can be used in your teaching and learning settings.
  • Identify free teaching and learning technologies, tools, and applications.
  • Evaluate free resources, technologies tools, and applications so you can successfully apply them to your teaching and learning settings.

Melissa Loble is VP of Platform and Partnerships for Instructure. In this role, Melissa oversees the strategy and operations of the company’s partner programs for both platforms. Previously, Melissa was associate dean for Distance Learning at the University of California, Irvine where she provided leadership in curriculum development, instructional design, and the selection and use of educational platforms and technologies. She led multiple projects resulting in the delivery of 13 MOOCs.

As Director of Platform & Partnerships Marketing at Instructure, Katie’s role is to guide innovation and open education initiatives at Instructure. She works across multiple teams to implement new processes and ideological shifts, marketing initiatives, and product changes that will promote openness at Instructure. She holds a graduate certificate in instructional design and is currently working on her M.S. in Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
