Are you interested in a career in the allied health field? If you have ever wanted to know what a medical coder does on a daily basis or what it takes to be a practical nurse, then this MOOC is for you! It explores a variety of careers within the dynamic healthcare industry with a focus on both the administrative and clinical sides of healthcare. You will learn the requirements and attributes in the field concentrating on areas such as surgical technology, medical billing and coding, medical assisting, nursing, and healthcare administration.
Kelly Berge is a Full-time Berkeley College Professor who has taught both online and onsite. She has an extensive background in business and management within multiple healthcare positions. She earned a BA in Business Management from Oakland University and an MSHA in Health Care Administration from New England College, online. Professionally, she has worked in health care consulting, as a physician practice office manager, as a medical coder director, and she started her career in health care as a medical biller. Professor Berge is married and has 2 children (a 2 year old daughter and an 9 year old Golden Retriever).
